What Is The Car Fire Blanket?
The most common form of fire in an electric or hybrid vehicle is damage to the high-energy battery, or a manufacturing fault that causes the battery to enter a state of “thermal runaway.” In lithium-ion batteries, the electrolyte often contains hydrocarbon solvents, which can contribute to fire hazards. If left unchecked, extremely high temperatures in excess of 1,000°C+ can occur.
The Car Fire Blanket is made from a special quartz material with a silicone polymer coating, a combination of high-tech fabric engineering that provides continuous temperature resistance up to 1,000°C and peak temperatures of 1,600°C.
With a car fire blanket, the fire is deprived of oxygen to minimize combustion potential. As the fire was brought under control, temperatures dropped rapidly, preventing damage to surrounding vehicles and property.

What Should You Do If There Is a Car Fire?
As with most electric vehicle health and safety equipment, there are several key steps that need to be followed to ensure effectiveness.
Step 1: : If you suspect an electric vehicle fire, contact the fire brigade immediately.
Step 2:Make sure the blanket is the right size for the vehicle, unfold the blanket and position it behind the car or centered from the direction of deployment.
Note: Full personal protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus should be worn at all times when deploying and handling any fire blanket exposed on a vehicle. Requires at least two people to deploy.
Step 3: Grasp the handle, lift it high, and briskly place the blanket over the burning vehicle.
Note: Minimize direct contact of the blanket with the car as sharp edges may tear the blanket during unfolding.
Step 4:Use the marked spots on the blanket to position the blanket over the vehicle.
Note: Make sure the blanket is in contact with the ground on all sides and avoid areas where air may escape from under the blanket.
Step 5:Use the straps to wrap the bottom of the blanket around the base of the car.
Note: This will help cut off oxygen and ensure the blanket doesn’t blow away in strong winds. Tools or weights can be used to secure the blanket.
Step 6:The blankets were deployed and monitored with thermal imaging cameras.
